Style Inspiration-Linda Rodin

I have a new style inspiration and her name is Linda Rodin.

For all you women that think you have to think, look, and act a certain way just because you’re a little older, Linda is proof-positive you can be super cool at any age. Now in her sixties, she is one of the most stylish and cool women around.

Linda modeled briefly in her twenties, but really hit her stride as a stylist for Henri Bendel and then as a fashion editor for Harper’s Bazaar. She now works as a freelance stylist (one of the best) and is a major skincare guru. She created her world known Olio Lusso facial oil in her bathroom because she was disillusioned with the skincare products on the market. The Rodin brand is expanding and has a cult following. She only uses her products on her face (with the exception of her signature lipstick), has never colored her hair (which turned grey in her thirties), and believes simple is better.

I can only hope to look as chic and stylish as Linda when I’m in my sixties…I really want to be her when I grow up:)

June is definitely wedding month. I think every client I had today was looking for something shower or wedding related. Shower gifts can be simple, especially if she has a registry, but sometimes you want to kick it up a notch. This five-piece set contains Philosophy’s best-selling skincare and fragrance products. It comes in an adorable box and gives the bride everything she needs to walk down the aisle looking radiant and glowing. The set contains the following top sellers-

-Purity Made Simple one-step cleanser (for all skin-types)
-Hope in a Jar original formula moisturizer (for all skin-types)
-Amazing Grace perfumed three-in-one shampoo, bath, and shower gel
-Amazing Grace perfumed firming body emulsion
-A single-use sample of their Micro-Delivery Peel (one of my favorites)

This is a fantastic add-on to any shower gift and one that’s sure to be appreciated by any bride-to-be. After all, who doesn’t enjoy being pampered?

Nip+Fab Lands Stateside At Target

It’s here, it’s here, it’s finally here! The U.K.’s best selling skincare phenomenon, Nip+Fab, is now stateside at select Target stores. Created by celebrity skin care specialist (and the brains behind the much more expensive line Rodial), this skincare collection targets every issue women face. This clinically tested line of products contains miracle workers that brighten, plump, and smooth skin, and covers problems from cellulite to dark spots to frown lines. I seriously ran to Target yesterday. I started with three products, which I will review once I’ve had some time to use them, but I know I will be going back for more.

Frown Fix $9.95
This product is a wrinkle and expression line filler. It comes with a neat brush so you just click and swipe it over all those lines you want filled.

Pigmentation Fix $15.95
This reduces age and sun spots, and corrects uneven skin tone. While I’ve been extremely happy with Estee Lauder’s Idealist, this has a much more beautiful price tag (Idealist is $85 a bottle).

No Needle Fix $19.99
This claims to be an injection of youth with no needle needed. It fills wrinkles within 30 minutes and after after 28 days deep wrinkles are diminished by almost 16%.

Today is my first day with these three products and I can tell you this much-they are all non-greasy and feel amazing on my skin. I put the Frown Fix on my crows feet and they are much softer looking and my concealer did not settle into them. I could actually feel the No Needle Fix working-my skin immediately felt tighter, but not in a bad way. I just know this is going to be my new favorite line!

Maria Hatzistefanis, creator of Nip+Fab
please visit Nip+Fab for more information.

Nip+Fab is available on-line and at select Target stores. Some in the Minneapolis area are Edina, Knollwood, St. Louis Park, Eden Prairie, Bloomington, Chaska, and Mankato. I suggest downloading the Target app. It gives you the product and whether it’s on-line or in-store. I could then choose the store, the product, and it would tell me exactly what aisle to go to (it was a little hard to find).

Miracle Worker

I have definitely reached the age where deep wrinkles are starting to appear. I can blame genetics (my dad had deep forehead wrinkles) but my dermatologist tells me the main reason for them is that I talk with my face. In other words, I’m very expressive. That’s fine and dandy, but I still don’t like it. There are so many products that claim to erase wrinkles, it’s hard to know what to try. One line I have seen success with is Philosophy’s Miracle Worker. I totally dig the retinoid pads, but only recently tried the eye cream and moisturizer. Philosophy has put together a set that contains all the products and it’s a great value.
The Philosophy Miracle Worker Set contains their best anti-aging products. They feature retinoids, which are proven to diminish the appearance of deep wrinkles. Used together, these products improve the elasticity and firmness of your skin and renew your skin tone and texture. The set consists of Miraculous Anti-Aging Eye Cream and moisturizer, and Miracle Worker Anti-Aging Retinoid Solution and pads. It is also appropriate for all skin types. My deep wrinkles have not disappeared, but they certainly do look better. And in my opinion, every little bit helps.

Philosophy Miracle Worker Set $119 ($185 value)

This set is exclusive to Sephora (I know, I shop there way too much) and is a limited edition. Don’t let this one pass you by.

Makeup Setter

Makeup fade. You know what I’m talking about ladies…you spend a good portion of your morning doing your face and by lunchtime your makeup has disappeared. Either you spend your lunch hour reapplying or you leave it and look drained the rest of the day. Frustrating to say the least. But fret no more, Urban Decay has the perfect makeup setter and there’s something for everyone.

Dew Me, All Nighter, and De Slick Makeup Setting Sprays $11-$29
available at Urban Decay, Sephora, or Ulta

The All Nighter Long Lasting Makeup Setting Spray is for all skin types and is hypoallergenic. It keeps your makeup in place and looking perfect for 16 hours, no matter what the elements (seriously, even in a hot tub). Urban Decay uses patent-pending Temperature Control Technology which lowers the temperature of your makeup so it stays put all day.

Dew Me is perfect for dry to combination skin. It keeps your skin moisturized and glowing all day. Your makeup won’t crack and settle into the fine lines and your skin won’t feel tight. There is no need to re-moisturize during the day.

De-Slick is ideal for oily skin. It will keep skin beautifully matte all day without clogging pores or causing breakouts. It also absorbs excess sebum throughout the day and controls surface shine. Your skin looks refreshed and your makeup flawless.

I have used both the All Nighter and De-Slick. Both are great, but I use De-Slick every day. After I finish doing my makeup, I spray De-Slick all over my face (microfine mist) and then blast skin with my blowdryer (so it dries quicker). I love this product. Even my lips retain whatever color I have put on them before the spray (no matter how much I eat and drink) and my cheeks still look rosy at 10pm. Take it from someone who suffers from mid-day melt, this is a must have product!

Spot Eraser

I have a lot of spots on my face. Acne scars, sun spots, freckles-you name it, I got it. My skin tone is very uneven (Come on-I grew up in the seventies and eighties. We used baby oil and aluminum covered albums to bake in the sun.) and I have tried everything to repair it. There are many products on the market now that claim to erase spots, but the only product I have found that works instantly is Estee Lauder’s Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator.
This is a miracle product for me. The formula is so light-weight and silky it almost turns to powder on my skin (and it’s oil-free). Instantly, my skin appears clearer, brighter, and more vibrant. It dramatically reduces redness, acne marks, dark spots, sun spots and discolorations. I used it for months but then switched to a cheaper product (no job-save money) but immediately noticed a change in my skin’s appearance. I had to switch back! When I’m using this product I can actually look at my skin and see radiance. I am a true believer in Idealist!

Estee Lauder Idealist Even Skintone Illuminator 1.0 $58, 1.7 $85
Estee Lauder

For a less expensive option

Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Dark Spot Corrector $16.99
available at drugstores everywhere

Bye Bye Blemish!

When I was a teenager struggling with acne, I would dream of the day I would finally be through with blemishes. Now, at 42, I’m still dreaming of that day. I think most adult women today can relate. Stress, hormones, environmental pollutants, blah, blah, blah…just make it go away already.
I have tried everything, and I mean everything. I found most products would treat one problem or another, but nothing was the cure-all I was searching for. And then I found Kate Somerville.
I had been reading about Kate’s renowned medi-skin clinic in Los Angeles for years. She’s the skincare guru to the stars, every one of them giving her treatments and products the credit for their glowing skin. I was so excited when Nordstrom started carrying her line. I bought the entire kit for oily and acne prone skin immediately. The results were amazing!! I love every product but there is one I literally cannot live without (and I’ve tried, but never again).
Kate’s Anti-Bac Clearing Lotion is a miracle for me. I use it twice a day, every day, no exceptions. It keeps my skin clear, has reduced my pores and blackheads, and my skin is far less oily. I still get the occasional hormonal zit, but it disappears in a day and leaves no mark like they often do.
I don’t need much makeup and I feel much more comfortable in my skin. It has a heftier price tag ($39) but it is absolutely worth every penny. It is often completely sold out at Sephora, but I can always find it at Nordstrom.

Kate Somerville Anti-Bac Clearing Lotion $39
