I’m Back…..

Hello my lovely stylistas! I’m super sorry I’ve been away for so long. I have been so busy with my new job and I absolutely love it! It is amazing to wardrobe, style, and influence women and men throughout Minneapolis. I have had some very rewarding and emotional sessions with clients and that makes it so worthwhile.
Okay, enough about me. I want to share with you some exciting news. If you’re a fan of Nicole Richie (like me) then you’re going to want to head to Macy’s September 12th. The ever-stylish Ms. Richie is launching her first collection for Macy’s Impulse and it is fabulous. It really embodies Nicole’s bohemian style and has an edge to it as well. This capsule collection consists of 25 pieces that is done in rich jewel tones, lots of faux leather, some awesome zipper pull detailing, and is quite masculine vs. feminine. Here are my favorite pieces-

The collection is available at Macy’s for a limited time starting September 12th. Locally, it will only be at the Southdale location, but you can always try on-line too. And if you think you want to view the collection, contact me for a private showing!!

Another item I want to cover is Fashion’s Night Out. This event will be held in fashion cities world-wide on September 6th. This global initiative was originally created in 2009 to celebrate fashion, restore consumer confidence, boost the industry’s economy, and put the fun back into shopping! It has been wildly successful and continues to grow each year. Minneapolis has many glamorous events planned and the festivities run from 4-9pm. The hubs and I will be attending Macy’s red carpet fashion show and will then scoot over to Neiman Marcus to take in their last FNO event here in the Twin Cities.

For more information on FNO events in Minneapolis, please visit Downtown MPLS

Even if you can’t make it to the festivities, just get out and shop on September 6th. Brick and mortar stores can use all the support they can get!

I’m going to try really hard to blog more often. I miss it and all of you!!

On My Shopping List

The hubby and I spent the day hiking in Taylor’s Falls (Interstate Park) so I didn’t have much time to write a blog for Sunday. This park borders Minnesota and Wisconsin on the St. Croix River. It’s home to many “potholes” that were formed in lava rock and has fabulous trails along the river. It was moving fast and furious today so no kayaking, but we did get a workout climbing over ancient boulders.

A view of the river looking across to Wisconsin

There is one pothole you can climb down into. Really amazing…

I did manage to put together a “dream” shopping list to share with you all. I had the new Anthropologie catalog waiting for me when we got home and it got me thinking about some fabulous items I would love to have.

Elizabeth and James “Bax” platform sandals $177 available at Nordstrom
I love these platforms. Because the sole is one height, they are much easier for me to walk in than heels or wedges. And I do need some brown summer shoes…

Topshop Lips in “Sartorial” $16 available at Topshop
Every gal needs a red lip and this one is bright enough to play off of your tan.

Glimmered Ankita dress $198 available at Anthropologie
This is my kind of dress. I love the peasanty silhouette and the colors are really fun. The longer sleeves make it a perfect selection for evenings (I’m always cold).

Ojon Rare Blend Oil Total Hair Therapy $35 available at Sephora
I’m anxious to try this new multi-tasking oil. It protects, nourishes, softens, and boosts your hair’s shine. It’s next on my list of products to sample.

Rachel Zoe Belted Shoulder Tote $450 available at Nordstrom
I really want a red bag and this one is exactly what I’m looking for. Alas, it’s a pipe-dream (at least until I start working again!).

Fun Fashion Apps

I’ve been battling a cold/flu the past couple of days so I’ve spent a lot of time searching apps for my iPhone/ iPad. There are so many cool tools available to make shopping and dressing fun and effortless. Two in particular caught my eye and I downloaded them immediately. Now I am completely obsessed and find myself spending way too much time playing.

Shopstyle Mobile is fantastic. It is like the ultimate search engine for all things related to shopping. This app brings together over 500 ecommerce sites offering clothing, shoes, accessories, and beauty. It’s a huge variety of stores (American Eagle to Chanel) all at your fingertips. You can add favorites, get sale alerts, post to facebook and twitter, or share via email. You can search by brand or store, or refine by style and price. A must have app for anyone who loves to shop online.

Stylebook is another super cool app. You can import pictures of your actual clothing and accessories and create looks and collages that will help make dressing a snap. There’s a calendar so you can track when you wear items so you don’t repeat too often and a packing icon which is a big help when planning your travel (it’s always so hard to know what to pack). You can also add inspiration and share your looks via facebook, twitter, tumblr, or email.

This a my first attempt at a collage. I actually used both apps. I got the pieces from shopstyle, added them to my closet in stylebook and created this “day” look. It’s so fun!!!

Both apps are available from the apple app store. I believe they were both free, but for sure under $5.00. My head is kind of in a fog today!!!

Shoppes At Arbor Lakes

After being sidelined for two days with a migraine, I decided to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather. A trip to one of my favorite shopping destinations was on the agenda!

The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove is such a wonderful shopping environment. It’s outdoors and reminds me of living on the East Coast. Great shopping, wonderful restaurants, and piped in music-what more does a girl need?

Breezy Blouse from Old Navy, Rock and Republic jeggings, Staccato boots, Rebecca Minkoff bag and kitty! (She would love to go shopping)

Rebecca Minkoff Morning After bag-roomy with lots of pockets

Michael Kors watch-I need a big face or else bifocals!

I get so many compliments on these boots from Staccato. Sad day when they closed…

My first stop was Goodthings. I love this store-such a fun environment and the staff is super friendly. It’s a great place to buy gifts or something fun for yourself.

Aren’t these wall hangings amazing!! Hurry though-they go fast!

Next I was off to Bluebird Boutique. They also have a location on 50th and France. They had just gotten in a shipment of Elizabeth and James sweaters. It was hard to walk away, but they will be offering 20% off the store Thursday. May have to go back…

Hot Mama was next. I love this company and love that they are Minnesota based. Wendy and her staff are so friendly and knowledgable. The fall product is amazing. Their new store opens at the end of October in the old Sharper Image location. It will be twice the size. You know what that means-more yummy merchandise!

I hit the jackpot at Anthropologie! Remember the J Brand Love Story flares I featured last week? I got them on sale for over $100 off the original price. Courtney, the store manager, told me they are offering an extra 25% off all clearance through October 10th. Don’t miss out!

My last stop was Ulta to stock up on a few things. I love Ulta because they have everything. High end and drugstore cosmetics, the best hair care selection in town and so much more. It’s a one stop shop for beauty!

The Shoppes at Arbor Lakes is holding a Girl’s Night Out Thursday. Proceeds benefit Hope Chest for Breast Cancer. Shopping for a cause-I love it!
