This week I have chosen Carine Roitfeld for my fashion inspiration. Carine was the editor-in-chief of Vogue Paris from 2001-2011 and is one of the most amazing stylists out there. Since leaving Vogue, she has done many freelance gigs, including Chanel’s fall 2011 and spring 2012 ad campaigns. This fall she has two new projects debuting. One is the launch of her own fashion magazine, CR Fashion Book (I cannot wait!) and the other is a line for MAC cosmetics. This collection will focus on the eyes, strong brows, and nude lips-her signature look. I love her “grunge” look and unique style. She is a true inspiration for all fashionistas out there!
So very Parisian, and I love the boots.
She started her career as a model and quickly moved behind the scenes at French Elle.
Huge fan of army green pants, especially when they’re dressed up with heels.
The many faces of Carine
Always love me some fur!
Denim skirt dressed up with blazer and heels.
She’s one style icon not afraid to recycle. Here the denim skirt takes on a more beachy vibe.
Her ad campaign for MAC will be in black and white. Very unusual for a cosmetics ad, but totally Carine.
With her book “Irreverent”, which was released last Christmas. It is the ultimate fashion book.
A peak inside her fabulous book.
Carine Roitfeld “Irreverent” is available at Amazon and is now $58.82 (was $100). I still need to pick up a copy!
Carine is truly a role model for anyone interested in fashion. I can’t wait to see what she does next!

I am addicted to sunglasses. Even on the cloudiest of days, I cannot leave home without them. I think blue eyes are extra sensitive to the sun. Choosing the right pair is essential, especially if you’re spending a lot of money. They are a major statement piece and it’s important to wear a pair that fits your style. A huge trend in frames this season is the Cat Eye. This silhouette has been around for decades, but comes and goes as far as trends are concerned. I’ve always been a huge fan! They are super glamorous and look great on almost everyone. Here’s a look at my top picks this season.
Tortoise, especially in coffee shades, are huge right now. This color really does look good on everyone.

Sunglasses are the ultimate accessory when the sun is shining. Be sure to try on many pairs, get someone’s opinion, and have fun!!
As a young woman, I could not get enough eyeliner. That seems to still be the trend in the land of youth. As a more elegant woman (I refuse to say mature), I’ve come to realize less is more. Eye makeup can give away your age quickly. It has a tendency to settle into fine lines and creases or smudging onto the brow bone. But sometimes a lady does need a little definition and color. Enter the wonderful eyeliner/ shadow stick from E.L.F.
This combo is a dream. The eyeliner is so slim it’s virtually fool-proof. It has twist-up ease, so there’s never a need to sharpen (just make sure you twist it back down before capping). This soft gel liner makes it a breeze to create dramatic definition and the light-reflecting pigments help line the eye subtly but effectively. Because of my eye shape, I often get mascara along my upper lash line, but one swipe of this hides those mistakes. The smooth glide shadow stick provides a soft, highlighting color that compliments the liner and really makes my eyes pop. Again, I just do one swipe and have instant and flawless color. It wears really well and never ends up where it shouldn’t be. It’s available in 6 shades, which makes achieving a smokey eye super easy.
Eye Liner and Shadow Stick $3.00
available at ELF and most major drugstores (I got mine at Target)
Does anyone else have trouble with eye concealer? Maybe it’s because my eyes are getting old. It seems that every eye concealer I use settles into my fine lines and becomes noticeable after a few hours. While checking out a new Walgreens, I came across an eye product from Garnier. I decided to give it a try and I am so glad I did.
Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller is fantastic. This 2-in-1 eye product both treats and conceals dark circles, brightening the entire eye area. The caffeine based gel, paired with the rollerball, energizes and stimulates microcirculation. Over time dark circles become less noticeable. The tinted minerals conceal with out being heavy and stay put all day long. I do use an eye cream first (my skin is so dry this time of year) and then roll the gel over that. The coverage is good, especially for every day use. I’ve only been using it a week, so I can’t report on dark circles disappearing, but they are less evident.
Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller $12.99
available at Ulta and major drugstores
Today’s pick for style inspiration is Kate Bosworth. I love her natural, glowing beauty and her laid-back casual chic style. The look is effortless, yet always put together. Whether it’s dressing up for an event or running errands, she always looks amazing.
What a face! Did you know she has one brown eye and one that’s blue?
She sticks with what works. Skinny jeans, sweaters, scarves, and a bun.
She’s not afraid to play with color. Love the blue sweater with red boots.
Easy, breezy…love the long cardigan!
Sweater with tights-very Edie Sedgewick!
My favorite look-over sized sweater with leggings and motorcycle boots.
Love me a shift-and the orange red color with the black boots is perfect!
The right jacket can totally dress up jeans and a sweater.
Two views-one amazing outfit! I love the color and texture of this sweater. Paired with skinny jeans and boots, this is the ultimate shopping outfit. Add dangly earrings and you have style!
Rosy glow cheeks. Tip:put cream blush only on the apples of your cheeks-takes years off a face!
There’s no denying this girl has style! Who’s your inspiration?
