I started wearing Clinique’s Black Honey over ten years ago. Back then it only came in their Almost Lipstick formula and it was my signature color. I loved the color (a deep, blackened raisin) and the feel. Fast forward a decade and now this color has a cult following. Why? Because it truly does look great on everyone. It does not matter what your individual coloring is, this will look amazing on you. I hate to admit it, but I had kind of forgotten about this unique lip shade until I started going through my new magazines. The ads are everywhere and it got me thinking-“Why did I abandon Black Honey?” I guess I just got caught up in all the new goodies that are constantly hitting the market. I pulled out the tube I had tucked away and tried it on. Perfection! And after looking into it, I found this color is now available in many different options.
Black Honey Almost Lipstick $15
The original, this lipstick is really more of a balm. Transparent pigments merge with your unique, natural lip tone to create a color that is all yours. It’s sheer, glossy, and very lightweight.
Black Honey Lip Duo $21
This is a two-sided gem. Almost lipstick is on one end, and on the other you have Long Last Glosswear. Worn separately or together, you will have beautiful and moisturized lips. SPF 15.
Black Honey Glow ($48.50 value) $28.50
This set contains four products to create the ultimate Black Honey look. Set contains Color Surge Eye Shadow Duo, High Impact Mascara, limited edition Black Honey gel blush, and Superbalm.
Whatever product you choose, I can guarantee you will not be disappointed with Black Honey. It’s delicious!
I seem to have a really hard time finding an overnight moisturizer. So many are too heavy for my skin and usually I do not see any change in it’s appearance. Then I saw an ad for Clinique’s Turnaround Overnight Radiance Moisturizer. I remembered always having good results from their original Turnaround Cream (why did I stop using that?) so I decided to give their new formula a try.
I haven’t even been using it a week and have already noticed a change in my morning skin. My pores are almost invisible and my skin does seem radiant. I’m not greasy and I find I really don’t even need to use powder when doing my face. I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise. Turnaround Overnight tones, retexturizes and plumps the skin all while you sleep so you wake up looking energized and glowing. It is fragrance free and perfect for all skin types. I can’t wait to see the results after using this moisturizer for a month!
Turnaround Overnight Radiance Moisturizer $44.50
available at Sephora and all major department stores
With cold weather comes drier skin and so it’s time to switch to creme blush. I really love Nars The Multiple for it’s multi-purpose abilities, and I am really in love with their new holiday color. G-Spot (yep, that’s right) is a gold-infused rose hue that makes me look like I just came in from ice skating. The creamy formula blends effortlessly to eyes, lips, and cheeks, and should be applied with your fingers. It has real staying power too. Rumor has it Nars will keep it around after the holidays, but I’d scoop it up now. You’ll positively glow through all your festive functions!
Clinique also has a good blushwear stick. It’s a creme to powder formula and blends seamlessly.
Clinique Blushwear Creme Stick $19 (in Rosy)
For a really affordable option, try New York Color Blushable Creme Stick. It gives a very natural flush to your cheeks.
I have an extensive beauty regime. My loved ones think I’m crazy, but I can’t help it. I love the act of getting ready. It relaxes me, makes me feel girly and gives me the illusion that I’m slowing down the aging process. That being said, I’m certainly not opposed to streamlining the process.
Enter BB Cream (also known as “beauty balm” or “blemish balm”). Originated in Korea, it’s quickly becoming a must have for American women. It combines sunscreen, treatment, primer and moisturizer into one fabulous product. It conceals fine lines and blemishes while absorbing oil, and provides almost flawless coverage. I only need to conceal a few stubborn sunspots (sunscreen people!). I follow with blush and powder and I’m done! My skin stays oil free yet hydrated all day long.
A few tips about applying-blending is key, a little goes a long way and most importantly, the color adjusts to your skin tone (it appears a bit pale at first).
While I went with Dr. Jart, Smashbox, Boscia and Clinique also offer BB Creams in their lines. Sephora is a terrific place to try products and they have a great return/exchange policy. Located in Ridgedale, Mall of America, Rosedale and www.sephora.com
