Style Inspiration-The Ladies of Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival was the week and the stars were out in force. This is my favorite festival because the ladies turn on the glamour and there were so many stunning looks it was hard to narrow it down. Kristen Stewart, Diane Kruger, Naomi Watts, and Diane Kruger really stole the show (in my opinion). Here are my picks for most amazing looks at Cannes.

Kristen Stewart in Reem Acra. This is my number one overall look. Kristen is fiery in red and looks sophisticated, glamorous, and grown up.

Georgina Chapman. The woman behind Marchesa shows why she’s a top designer. Truly fabulous!

Naomi Watts in Calvin Klein. Simple, classic, and chic.

Eva Longoria in Marchesa. Wow! My favorite dress of the entire festival. The train is divine, the detailing is fabulous. It’s a dress that completely gobsmacked me. And Eva’s hair and makeup absolutely compliment the design.

Diane Kruger in Giambattista Valli Couture. This color is perfection on her. The dress is ethereal and chic. Her hair and makeup are right on the money too.

Eva Herzigova in Dolce and Gabbana. This is “Old Hollywood”. The beading is spectacular. Imagine all the hours it must take to create such a masterpiece.

Jada Pickett Smith in Alberta Ferretti. I really like this dress on Jada. The silhouette is beautiful and the overall look is very soft and feminine. Sometimes I think she can look too hard, but this is gorgeous.

Jessica Chastain in Giorgio Armani. Simple, elegant, and flawless. She has never looked better.

Naomi Watts in Marchesa. The detailing-speechless. The feathers are exquisite. The sheer bottom is a delight. She is a star!

Kristen Stewart in Balenciaga. This is a great dress for her. It’s a little edgy but still feminine. Whoever she has for a stylist is certainly earning their paycheck. I love seeing Kristen look like a lady.

You can certainly see why Cannes is spectacular. These ladies know what works for them and how to dress for the occasion (and they have amazing stylists). This just goes to show that glamour isn’t dead.

Coco Rocha-Target’s May Guest Editor

I just discovered Target’s on-line magazine and it’s super cute. The May issue features supermodel Coco Rocha as their guest editor. This Irish dancer-turned-super model puts together ten adorable and super fashionable outfits perfect for any occasion. I’ve tried to find shopping information for each item, but many of the pieces are in-store only (which is great) and availability does vary from location to location.

Coco gives her take on must-have items.

This is my favorite look. It is a must-have for me.
Mossimo knit maxi tank dress $27.99
Converse One Star short-sleeve Fowler sweater $24.99
Mossimo black Perri wedge $29.99

Casual yet tres chic. This is a classic look that will never go out of style.
Merona Breezy chambray $19.99
Mossimo sateen cuff short $17.99

From My Style Book

It’s a gloomy day here in Minneapolis so I’ve been playing with my shopstyle and stylebook apps (again). It’s so fun to browse through hundreds of items and then put together dream outfits. I created four great looks for spring. They’re fun, a little flirty, and contain a variety of price points.

I love this floral print top. It has so many amazing colors you can pull into other pieces. It’s a great look for hanging on the weekend or for work.
7 For Mankind Gray Classic Skinny Roxanne $295 available at Style Bop
Cinch-tie Cold Shoulder Blouse $35 available at Old Navy
Balenciaga Arena Giant Nickel Day Bag $1495 available at Barney’s
Xhileration White Wayfarer Sunglasses $12.99
Mossimo Pearlynn Espadrille Wedge $34.99
Long and Lean Tank $8.00
all available at Target

This is my “date night” look (although you could wear it to the office). I adore the leopard print. The darkness of the denim and the black patent platform are very sexy, and really dress up the outfit.
7 For Mankind Mid-rise Bootcut Jean $169 available at Lord and Taylor
Chiffon Leopard Print Top $20 available at Old Navy
Balenciaga Giant 12 Nickel Velo Bag $1895 available at Neiman Marcus
Mossimo Paisley Platform $29.99
Xhileration Black Cat-eye Sunglasses $12.99
both available at Target

I love this look! I would live in it, whether it was going to the zoo, the movies, or shopping. It is my perfect spring look.
7 For Mankind Cropped Skinny Jeans $178 available at Lord and Taylor
Smocked Button Front Printed Top $30 available at Old Navy
Rachel Zoe Joni Raffia/Leather Bucket Bag $495 available at Bergdorf Goodman
Buyamba Soles Beaded T-strap Sandal $14.99
Mossimo Tortoise Geometric Sunglasses $16.99
both available at Target

This is my “long lunch with the girls” look. Can’t you picture having cocktails on a patio with your besties wearing this ensemble?
Mother Cropped Runway Skinny Flare $198 available at Shopbop
Off-the-Shoulder Chiffon Blouse $29 available at Old Navy
Rachel Zoe Leather Satchel $450 available at Bergdorf Goodman
Mossimo Pam Rope Wedge $24.99
Xhileration Olive Wayfarer Sunglasses $12.99
both available at Target

So, which look is your favorite?? To create your own amazing looks, check out shopstyle and stylebook, both available at the app store.

Style Inspiration-Poppy Delevingne

Another Saturday, another inspiration. Today’s gal is Poppy Delevingne. This British beauty has strutted down the runways for such fashion giants as Chloe and Balenciaga, and she’s also an ambassador for Chanel. Known for her trademark unkempt waves and mile-long legs, this English lass has style I can relate too. She has that casual cool I admire so much, yet has the knack for being a showstopper at every event she attends. Here’s a peak into the world of Poppy.

A great military-inspired jacket over a casual dress with awesome detail. Pair it with stylish booties and you have fashion genius.

Strapless, lacy goodness. This dress flatters her figure and the loose waves work very well with this ensemble.

You know I adore a beanie and the jacket is scrumptious. The cutouts in the leggings add even more edge to this compilation.

Perfection. Every piece has an interest point. The top has cutouts, the clutch has the right amount of pattern and texture, and the booties and the jewelry are both complimentary.

Vision in red. I love the mix of pattern and texture, and the shoes give a more casual vibe.

Casual, edgy, cool. You can take a basic hoody, add the right denim and boots, and have a stylish look. Adding the right accessories can turn even the most basic outfit into something special.

Classy and chic. Notice the detailing of the top? That’s what sets this look apart from your average camel and black mix.

Pretty picture. I love how she left some curly tendrils out of her braid. Keeps it from looking too “Little House”.

With her sister Cara. I totally dig pairing a sequin top with denim and biker boots.

The ultimate example of casual chic. She’s in the mud and still looks stunning. Instead of slapping on a sweatshirt, you can layer funkier pieces, throw on some uber cool accessories, and apply a bright lipstick. Those little extras is what separates the stylish from the sloppy.

This is how I roll. By throwing on a fur, you turn jeans, sneakers, and a sweatshirt into a pulled-together look. Of course, you need to do your hair and makeup (always).

The right amount of wave and neutral makeup. You don’t need to go all out every day, but all ladies need to put in a little effort. You only get one chance to make a good first impression…

You do need to have some height to wear a dress like this, but she does it well. Love the sandals and the sunnies too.

It’s not hard to see why she’s an inspiration to me. I do like a gal who wears casual well. Anyone can look great dressing up, especially if you have a stylist. It’s getting the day-to-day right that’s hard for most. It’s all about the accessories and details.

The Best Of The SAG Awards

The SAG Awards were Sunday night and the stars were out in full-force. I think this is my favorite awards show. Firstly, it’s only two hours. Secondly, there is no host, and thirdly, it’s just to honor actors. It seems more fast-paced and laid back, and that makes for much more enjoyable viewing. The ladies of the red carpet looked amazing (of course) and I had a lot of favorites. In my opinion, this show had the ladies looking better than ever!

Kelly Osbourne in Badgley Mishka gown with Dena Kemp Palladium diamond bubble ring. She really looks great, and this dress really shows off the figure she’s worked so hard for.

Julianna Margulies in a custom-made Calvin Klein Collection gown with Marcy Miller drop earrings. This dress is fabulous. She really just gets better and better.

Kristen Wiig in a Balenciaga gown and clutch. I adore the simplicity of this gown. It’s a wonderful silhouette for her and the choker is a great touch.

Tilda Swinton in a custom-made Lanvin goddess gown and Fred Leighton diamond bracelet. Wow! Usually she goes for a very androgynous look, but this evening she looked like a beautiful woman.

Sarah Hyland in a vintage-inspired Temperley gown. She is always adorable, and I love how she stays age-appropriate. It’s going to be fun watching her grow into her womanhood.

Octavia Spencer in a Tadashi Shoji gown with Irene Neuwirth jewelry. This dress really looks incredible on her body. It’s so fun to watch her-she’s having the time of her life.

Michelle Williams in Valentino with Fred Leighton for Forevermark jewelry. She looks so amazing in red and this is fun yet sophisticated.

Kyra Sedgwick in Pucci. She really does get better with age. She looks fabulous, sexy, and very comfortable with herself-something that definitely comes with more life experience.

Natalie Portman in Giambattista Valli Couture gown with Harry Winston jewelry. She is just such a classic beauty. This color is so rich and elegant.

Julie Bowen in Temperley London gown with Martin Katz jewelry and Judith Leiber clutch. This is an interesting choice. At first I didn’t really like it, but it grew on me. She’s taking some risks and you have to give her credit for that.

Emily Blunt in Oscar de la Renta with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and a Swarovski clutch. I love this color on her and the cut is very glamorous.

And now for my favorite-it’s a tie. These two ladies blew me away. They both looked so elegant, so sophisticated and so absolutely stunning, I just can’t decide between them.

Rose Byrne in an Elie Saab Couture Jumpsuit. Not many people can pull off a jumpsuit, especially on the red carpet. But paired with Chanel fine jewelry and a Lena Erziak clutch, she made it sparkle and shine. The hair and the makeup really complimented the jumpsuit. Simply fabulous!

Zoe Saldana in Givenchy Couture drop-waist gown. They need a new word for how stunningly beautiful this dress is. I could die, it’s that good. The crystal embellishments on the sleeves and the neckline are spectacular. The hair and the makeup are divine. She is gorgeous.
