If you haven’t seen ABC’s “Once Upon A Time”, the only thing I can say is “Why not?”. It is one of the best shows on television today. Not only are the stories interesting, suspenseful, and heart warming, the show is one of the most visually beautiful series I have ever seen.
A brief overview-Everyone in Storybrooke, Maine is a fairytale character under the curse of the Evil Queen. They don’t know they are cursed, let alone who they really are. They don’t remember each other or the lives they’ve led in fairytale land. Well, there are three people who know: the mayor, Regina, Mr. Gold, and the mayor’s adopted son Henry. You see, the mayor is actually the Evil Queen and Mr. Gold is Rumplestiltskin. The curse did not work on them. And the mayor’s son? Well, he’s come to own a story book that spells it all out-but no one believes him. It’s up to Emma, the long-lost daughter of Snow White (aka Mary Margaret) and Prince Charming (aka David) to save them all. Oh, did I mention she’s also Henry’s birth mother? Confused? Don’t be! This is true family t.v. that will entertain both kiddies and parents.
So, why is it my style inspiration? Costume Designer Eduardo Castro is a genius. He completely transforms each character two-fold. You have the modern day look of Storybrooke, but then you have the fairytale character as well. The costumes and the sets are both visually stunning and a real treat to watch.
If you haven’t seen the show, I suggest you hit “On Demand” immediately! It is fantastic!! “Once Upon a Time” airs Sundays 8pm EST/ 7pm CST on ABC.
