With a background in visual merchandising and display, nothing was more thrilling than installing the Christmas windows. It was, by far, my favorite task of the year. There is something very magical about these windows. It adds so much to the feel of the season and can make even the most of the “bah humbugs” smile with delight. It is a tradition which has yet to disappear, even in this age of political correctness. Here are my favorite windows this season. The detail is astounding. Those who create and install these masterpieces are true artists.
Lord and Taylor’s “What Is Christmas Made Of”
Macy’s “Yes, Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus”
Bergdorf Goodman’s “Carnival Of Animals”
Neiman Marcus’ Paper Dress (made out of Christmas cards)
I suggest to everyone to take a walk and tour all the windows in your city. It will fill you with holiday spirit!
