Overnight Skin Renewal

I recently ran out of my Clinique Turnaround Night Cream and was debating what to try next. Don’t get me wrong. I wasn’t unhappy with the Turnaround cream, I’m just itching to try more amazing products. I have heard so many wonderful things about Skinceuticals that I decided it was my next step. Besides, it’s carried in dermatologist and plastic surgeon offices across the country, so it must be good, right? Right! I went with their Renew Overnight Cream for oily and combination skin.
The first thing I noticed was how amazing it smelled. It’s formulated with tangerine oil to help combat acne and skin congestion. Yum! The cream is very lightweight and absorbs instantly into the skin. This moisturizer refines the skin and diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Botanicals hydrate while the 10% hydroxy acid blend gently exfoliates to restore a healthy, radiant complexion. What I’ve noticed so far is that my skin is much brighter in the morning, is less greasy, and looks healthier. Time will tell if those stubborn lines and wrinkles will disappear, but I’m always hopeful!

Sephora+Pantone Color Of The Year Collection

I have to admit I was very happy with Pantone’s “Color of the Year” selection. “Tangerine Tango” (or Pantone 17-1463) is the perfect shade of reddish orange and is a color that really is flattering on everyone. Pantone is the authority on color and is the standard language for color communication from designer to manufacturer to retailer to customer. In other words, the color trends each season begin with Pantone.

Color of the year- Tangerine Tango

I guess it only makes sense that Sephora and Pantone would collaborate on a collection. Sephora+Pantone’s color trend-forecasting is a collection of the season’s top shades in easy-to-wear variations and finishes. The collection is made up of everything from makeup to accessories and the colors are simply fabulous. Here’s a look at my top picks. Everything is very limited edition, available only at Sephora, and I’m sure will sell out quickly.

Color of the Year Creme Lipstick in Tangerine Tango $18
This is an amazing lipstick that smoothes, hydrates, and protects lips. This is the shade to have this year and it is stunning.

Color of the Year Lip Gloss Set $20 ($60 value)
Four high-intense colors based on the color of the year. This gloss is hydrating and long-wearing, all while imparting crystal refelctions.

These tangerine shades scream summer and make me want to break out the flip flops and beach towels. Some items are coming soon and some are available now. Please visit Sephora for more products and information.

Spring Fashion Trends 2012

Spring fashion is starting to filter into stores everywhere, so I thought I’d give a quick overview of what’s being forecasted as the “it” pieces for 2012. While some might look crazy, there are elements from all that can be incorporated into your wardrobe.

20120110-110102.jpg
Metallic Basics. No, you don’t want to be head-to-toe in metallic, but adding a piece here or there can give you that little extra sparkle.

20120110-110317.jpg
Cheerful Color Blocking. For most of us, the thought of being draped in colorful fabric is daunting. I know I feel much more comfortable in black. However, adding a colorful piece with a more neutral one can really brighten your day and bring warmth to your face.

20120110-110757.jpg
Anoraks. These are always great jackets for spring, but now they come in beautiful colors and unique designs. A new twist on a classic design.

20120110-111320.jpg
Super Bold Prints. Again, I tend to shy away from prints, but nothing says spring more than a colorful and playful dress. Hair, makeup, and accessories can stay neutral and the dress can be the star.

20120110-111604.jpg
Oranges and Tangerines. These colors started popping up last spring, but now they are in full-force. I actually really love these shades and wear them in small doses. But, looking at these dresses, I think it might be time to take a bigger spoonful.

20120110-111906.jpg
Pink Short Suits. I used to have the most adorable pink skirt suit. I got it at Merry-Go-Round (remember that place?!?!) and I loved that the jacket and skirt could be worn together, but also worked with many other items in my closet. It’s a bold move to wear a colorful suit, but you definitely get miles out of it.

Pastel Shades. Very pretty, very soft, and very romantic, these are perfect shades for those who want to play with color, but are afraid to go bold.

Colorful Camo. A more girly way to do camo (which I actually like).

Peplum skirts, shirts, and dresses. While I am not a fan of peplum on me, they can be very flattering on a lot of body types. This trend has been around for years and doesn’t show any sign of slowing down.

Judging by these trends, spring looks like it’s going to be a lot of fun. I can’t wait!!
