The Little White Dress

We all know how important the “little black dress” is. It’s the one article of clothing that will get you through any social event on your calendar. But now that it’s summer, maybe we should switch things up and try a “little WHITE dress”. Yes, the old rules dictate you should only wear white Memorial Day through Labor Day (and we are now in that time frame), however, I do believe the white dress can be worn all year long with the right accessories and other pieces in your closet. White is classic, crisp, and chic, and looks fabulous with a tan. Here are some celebrities rocking the LWD.

Workout Gear That Will Get You Moving

Let’s face it, we all need to work out. I’s just the way it is. There are some days when I hate every minute of it, but I feel so happy afterwards. And yes, you get hot, sweaty, stinky…but that doesn’t mean you can’t look great doing it. Workout wear has taken on a life of it’s own (and one of the few categories that hasn’t suffered because of the economy). There are boutiques devoted to nothing but fitness and exercise apparel and equipment. Yes, they might be more expensive than big box retailers, but in my opinion the merchandise is well worth it. Not only is the fabric better, but so is the fit and the design. And it’s so cute you can wear it even when you’re not working out. Luluemon is one of these boutiques and I have fallen in love. You get fabulous service from knowledgable staff, plus they offer in-store classes and run clubs, just to name a few extras. Here are my picks for summer. After all, working out is much easier if I’m happy with my outfit!

Deep Breathe Bra $48
One of the biggest issues I had with buying sports bras at the big box retailers is that they didn’t offer very good support. While my girls aren’t huge, they’re big enough (and old enough) to need support. This bra is great. It offers medium support and coverage, mainly due to the cross front and racerback. It also has removable cups which I love.

20120510-133512.jpg
Pranayama Bra $48
This is perfect for low-impact like yoga. The support and coverage are low so if you have “girls” this may not be for you. The cross front always your skin to breathe and keeps the tatas separate. Also comes with removable cups.

20120510-133745.jpg
Dhanursana Crop $78
These crops are super soft and comfortable. The bound hem keeps the crops in place, while the waistband has a hidden pocket for keys and cards.

20120510-133934.jpg
Strength and Tone Short $48
Lightweight and ideal for hot yoga or running. The anti-stink mesh liner ensures you goodies stay hidden. It has a cinch-able drawcord so you can adjust the fit and the fold-over waist band hides the drawcord. They also have front hip pockets.

20120510-134224.jpg
Tame Me Tank $52
This is great. The cut of the top is designed to fit over a full-coverage bra. It is made from Luxtreme and Silverescent fabrics which are moisture-wicking. And the cinch-able drawcord hem keeps the tank from riding up (I hate that).

In the Sun Dress $98
A dress designed for runners! The perforated panels are cute and allows skin to breathe while the four-way stretch lets you move in all directions. It also has reflective details so you are not invisible at night. And it’s cute enough to wear out and about too.

20120510-134715.jpg
Flow and Go Tote $128
This is the ideal bag for any girl that spends time at class. It can be worn as a messenger or tote and has tons of room. There’s a mesh pocket for sweaty clothes, front pockets to stow your shoes, and a back pocket that is roomy enough for a laptop. Drawcords keep everything in place and the side bottom zippers open so you can store your yoga mat. This tote is also a fabulous carry-on bag.

All items are available at Lululemon

As for my personal workout update, I am down 7 pounds! I have worked out every day for 25 days and have been at my calorie goal every day. I’m super excited because I am starting to see some real changes in my body, and that makes me happy inside and out!

Hollywood Fashion Secrets

We’ve all been there. You lose an earring back, spill coffee on your white blouse, buy jeans you have to wear that night but don’t have time to get them hemmed. Fashion emergencies happen to everyone and usually at the most inconvenient time. Enter Hollywood Fashion Secrets. Beloved by stylists and fashionistas worldwide, these little gems can solve any fashion dilemma you may find yourself in.
Headquartered in Minneapolis (not as hick as people think), Hollywood Fashion Secrets was created by Jane Dailey and Marni Bumsted. They knew there had to be a simple solution for wardrobe malfunctions and created the first in a long line of miracles-Hollywood Fashion Tape.

Jane and Marni

Here’s a look at my favorites in their collection. I have used and sold many of their products and they are spectacular.

20120309-082948.jpg
Hollywood Fashion Tape $8.99
This comes in 36 pre-cut strips of clear, double-stick apparel and body tape. Perfect for that gaping top or collar that won’t stay down. these beauties keep clothing in place. Made from 3M adhesive, they are gentle on skin, hypoallergenic, and leave no residue on fabrics. Plus, they are much more discreet than safety pins.

20120309-083328.jpg
Temporary Hem Tape $7.99
The one problem I have when buying denim is that it’s always too long and I have to get them hemmed. That’s fine, but I usually want to wear them that day and few tailors can accommodate my time frame. That’s when I turn to this hem tape. It’s specially sized, fabric friendly, and magically holds the hem in place. So much more attractive than rolling or pinning.

20120309-083745.jpg
Clear Bra Straps $5.99
I really don’t like to wear strapless bras. They are super uncomfortable and I feel like I focus all night on keeping my bra up. No fun. That’s why these clear straps are so great. They work with any bra (as long as it has detachable straps) and you’ll be comfy while wearing all those sexy tops.

20120309-084051.jpg
Stain Removing Pen $6.99
I prefer this pen to any other stain removal product (shout wipes are so messy). It’s easy to control and eliminates coffee, tea, wine, chocolate and ink stains with ease. Fits easily into your purse so you never had to worry about getting stuck with a smudge on your top.

20120309-084433.jpg
Oil Blotting Tissues $4.99 (100 sheets)
These tissues are perfect for absorbing oil and shine on your face and they won’t disturb your makeup. There also give a much more natural finish than continually applying powder. A must have!

20120309-084814.jpg
Fashion Emergency Kit $14.99
This is the mother of all kits. It’s purse size and consists of everything you could ever need for your wardrobe malfunctions. Here’s what you get:
-Hollywood Fashion Tape
-Deodorant Removing Sponge
-Lint Removing Sheets
-Sewing Kit
-Stain Wipes
-Earring Back
-Instant Button
-Hair Band
-Nail File
-Blister Pad
-Shoe Shine Sponge
Every woman needs this in her arsenal. You’ll never have to sweat about fashion mishaps again!
