Workout Gear That Will Get You Moving

Let’s face it, we all need to work out. I’s just the way it is. There are some days when I hate every minute of it, but I feel so happy afterwards. And yes, you get hot, sweaty, stinky…but that doesn’t mean you can’t look great doing it. Workout wear has taken on a life of it’s own (and one of the few categories that hasn’t suffered because of the economy). There are boutiques devoted to nothing but fitness and exercise apparel and equipment. Yes, they might be more expensive than big box retailers, but in my opinion the merchandise is well worth it. Not only is the fabric better, but so is the fit and the design. And it’s so cute you can wear it even when you’re not working out. Luluemon is one of these boutiques and I have fallen in love. You get fabulous service from knowledgable staff, plus they offer in-store classes and run clubs, just to name a few extras. Here are my picks for summer. After all, working out is much easier if I’m happy with my outfit!

Deep Breathe Bra $48
One of the biggest issues I had with buying sports bras at the big box retailers is that they didn’t offer very good support. While my girls aren’t huge, they’re big enough (and old enough) to need support. This bra is great. It offers medium support and coverage, mainly due to the cross front and racerback. It also has removable cups which I love.

20120510-133512.jpg
Pranayama Bra $48
This is perfect for low-impact like yoga. The support and coverage are low so if you have “girls” this may not be for you. The cross front always your skin to breathe and keeps the tatas separate. Also comes with removable cups.

20120510-133745.jpg
Dhanursana Crop $78
These crops are super soft and comfortable. The bound hem keeps the crops in place, while the waistband has a hidden pocket for keys and cards.

20120510-133934.jpg
Strength and Tone Short $48
Lightweight and ideal for hot yoga or running. The anti-stink mesh liner ensures you goodies stay hidden. It has a cinch-able drawcord so you can adjust the fit and the fold-over waist band hides the drawcord. They also have front hip pockets.

20120510-134224.jpg
Tame Me Tank $52
This is great. The cut of the top is designed to fit over a full-coverage bra. It is made from Luxtreme and Silverescent fabrics which are moisture-wicking. And the cinch-able drawcord hem keeps the tank from riding up (I hate that).

20120510-134440.jpg
In the Sun Dress $98
A dress designed for runners! The perforated panels are cute and allows skin to breathe while the four-way stretch lets you move in all directions. It also has reflective details so you are not invisible at night. And it’s cute enough to wear out and about too.

20120510-134715.jpg
Flow and Go Tote $128
This is the ideal bag for any girl that spends time at class. It can be worn as a messenger or tote and has tons of room. There’s a mesh pocket for sweaty clothes, front pockets to stow your shoes, and a back pocket that is roomy enough for a laptop. Drawcords keep everything in place and the side bottom zippers open so you can store your yoga mat. This tote is also a fabulous carry-on bag.

All items are available at Lululemon

As for my personal workout update, I am down 7 pounds! I have worked out every day for 25 days and have been at my calorie goal every day. I’m super excited because I am starting to see some real changes in my body, and that makes me happy inside and out!

Into The Deep-Anthropologie’s Spring Windows

Okay, so today is “Anthropologie, Take Two” here at Style Meganzine. I was absolutely floored when I saw their spring windows! I come from a very visual background and Anthro has some of the most talented visual merchandisers and display artists in the industry. The theme is “Earth Day” and honors the company’s partnership with the Wyland Foundation, a non-profit working to promote ocean stewardship. Did you know that 60% of the world’s coral reefs are expected to suffer major damage or vanish completely over the next 30 years? The windows are a celebration of life under the ocean and are filled with jellyfish, octopi, sea stars, and other ocean creatures. They are truly amazing and eye-catching windows.

Cream colored sea fans fill these windows.

Masque It

In my never ever ending quest for soft and manageable hair, I’ve found it imperative to deep condition. I have also found that you really don’t need to spend an arm and a leg to do it. L’oreal has some amazing hair care products and their masques rival the big names. Their “Ever” line is fantastic and is made up of many wonderful products, but perhaps the best are the masques. There’s one suitable for every hair issue we women have. And best of all-they’re all under $10.

20120331-182912.jpg
Evercreme Deep Nourishing Masque $8.99
This is their latest (and in my opinion, greatest) masque. It nourishes and restores moisture, transforming your dry, brittle hair into a soft and luscious mane. It is sulfate-free and contains Omega 3 which is just what the doctor ordered. It also contains no heavy waxes.

20120331-183209.jpg
Eversleek Smoothing Deep Conditioner $8.99
This is perfect for those gals that battle frizz. It’s an intensive and rich treatment that controls frizz and improves manageability. The natural oils penetrate hair fibers making hair smooth, shiny, and virtually frizz-free. Argan, sunflower, and olive oils weightlessly smooth hair, controlling the fuzz for up to 48 hours. Perfect for those affected by summer humidity.

20120331-183530.jpg
Everstrong Deep Replenish Masque $8.99
Sulfate-free and using L’oreal’s patented Bio-ceramide complex, this masque strengthens hair after only one use. It’s intensive, rich, and deeply nourishes and strengthens hair leaving it strong and super silky.

All available at Ulta and major drugstores.

So go ahead, you’re worth it!

Miracle Worker

I have definitely reached the age where deep wrinkles are starting to appear. I can blame genetics (my dad had deep forehead wrinkles) but my dermatologist tells me the main reason for them is that I talk with my face. In other words, I’m very expressive. That’s fine and dandy, but I still don’t like it. There are so many products that claim to erase wrinkles, it’s hard to know what to try. One line I have seen success with is Philosophy’s Miracle Worker. I totally dig the retinoid pads, but only recently tried the eye cream and moisturizer. Philosophy has put together a set that contains all the products and it’s a great value.
The Philosophy Miracle Worker Set contains their best anti-aging products. They feature retinoids, which are proven to diminish the appearance of deep wrinkles. Used together, these products improve the elasticity and firmness of your skin and renew your skin tone and texture. The set consists of Miraculous Anti-Aging Eye Cream and moisturizer, and Miracle Worker Anti-Aging Retinoid Solution and pads. It is also appropriate for all skin types. My deep wrinkles have not disappeared, but they certainly do look better. And in my opinion, every little bit helps.

Philosophy Miracle Worker Set $119 ($185 value)

This set is exclusive to Sephora (I know, I shop there way too much) and is a limited edition. Don’t let this one pass you by.

Clear Pores With Charcoal

I’m a big bath taker. I can spend hours reading and relaxing, but it’s also when I do my more luxurious beauty rituals-like masks. Masks are one of those products we often forget about, but are also one of the products most beneficial to our skin. They can hydrate, exfoliate, oxygenate, and clear out those pores. One of my favorites is Origins Clear Improvement. This mask contains activated charcoal which acts as a magnet to draw out deep-dwelling pore-cloggers. White China Clay absorbs environmental toxins while Lecithin dissolves impurities like dirt and other debris. I use it (or try to) once a week during bath time. I put a warm, moist towel on my face for a few minutes and then apply the mask. Now, don’t be afraid of the charcoal black color, it won’t stain anything. Relax as it dries and then rinse off. You’ll be left with skin that glows and has new clarity, and pores that are smaller and clearer. And I know most of you will say you’re too busy, but come on, you deserve it!

Origins Clear Improvement $22 (for all skin types)

A Tan For All Seasons

If you live in Minnesota then you are no doubt enjoying the forecast. A weekend in the high 60′s and no end in sight is fabulous, but my pale skin not so much. It is, at the very least, short sleeve weather (and I know people have pulled out their shorts) and we here in the midwest are flaunting some serious “Casper” skin. There was a time when I would have gone running to the tanning salon, but those days are long behind me. Self-tanner is really the only way to go and it can be a smelly challenge. Tanners are tricky because the smell can change with every hour and no one wants to stink. And everyone’s body chemistry is different so it’s hard to recommend a certain brand. However, I think I have found one that should be suitable for just about every girl out there.
St. Tropez Tanning Essentials Self Tan Bronzing Lotion is one of my favorites. First and foremost, it features the trademarked “Aromaguard” technology which eliminates the tell-tale self-tan aroma by a minimum of 70%. I don’t know about you, but that pretty much clinches it for me. The smell is actually pleasant (again, on me. Everyone is different). This tanner is a salon inspired formula that is infused with aloe vera and long lasting color. It goes on smooth and spreads very evenly. The color is a rich, natural bronze that lasts several days, depending on how often you apply. I was very happy with the results and it did not streak on me at all. Plus, it was chosen as an Allure Magazine Best of Beauty.

St. Tropez Tanning Essentials Self Tan Bronzing Lotion $30-$40

And because we all, at times, make mistakes when applying self-tanner, St. Tropez has another amazing product. Their Tan Remover helps remove unwanted self-tanning product (especially fingers and palms) for up to 4 hours after application.

St. Tropez Tanning Essentials Tan Remover $18

Both products available exclusively at Sephora

If any of you have suggestions for other great self-tanners, please share them. I know this is something everyone is always curious about. A good self-tanner is hard to find!
